Illegal hunting
Orangutans are hunted for food or people choosing to ignore and break the law. When female adults are killed the babies can be sold and the skulls are used as souvenirs that are sold throughout Kalimantan illegally.
Loss of habbitat through deforestation
Orangutans have lost a lot of land in the last 20 years, they have lost over 80% of their habibtat.In 1997-1998 around one-third of the orangutan of the population that lived in the wild died during fires.

1.Orangutans have opposible tumbs and their big toes are opposible, also about one-third of orangtans have no nails on their big toes

Illegal pet trade
People kill orangutans that are mothers and sell their babies. Hundreds of baby orangutans are taken from the wild yearly. Orangutans are not good pets to have though, they may be cute when they're younger but when they grow up they are uncontrolable, very strong, and dangerous.
Palm oil plantations
Palm oil is the biggest threat to orangutans, it is used in 50% of maunfacturtered goods. Beacuse it is needed for a lot of items humans are destroying more land where palm oil is. It is destroying the forests and orangutan habbitation.
